give fish or teach fish

Salam.

Selamat Hari Raya Aidiladha 1434.
Alhamdulillah, this year was a great celebration for me. Puasa sunat arafah with my parents, cook kuah kacang & bake cake with mak, solat aidiladha, family gathering and helping out gotong royong for qurban. I had lotsa fun!!

Crossed over about the word FREE somehow. I love free stuffs (oh puhleasss, everyone love free stuffs). From food, cosmetics, baju, payung. Haha the more free stuff the better!! But free stuff pun bertempat lah, sik lah rupa jakun berebut sampei nangis just because you want free stuff nak?

It feels good to give somehow. You made people happy, you made yourself happy because of charity you did. But somehow, this good positive culture always raised misconception by some. People who received TOO much (of free stuffs) took it for granted. Maybe the person mengharap and quit from finding it for themselves or simply work hard for it. That is a big problem.

I am the type of person who values win-win situation, where I prefer to have the feedback/positive consequences from the person I interact to. Eh, jangan salah faham, bukan mengharap balasan duit/free stuff in return, but it will be cool if the taker became more bersyukur to Allah, work harder or inspired by my help. It would make my day.

An example, I would buy references books for this person sitting for SPM next year. Orang susah, beli pun belum tentu mampu, pinjam buku teks sekolah agik ya. So I would give FREE books just to see the person motivated to learn more, work harder for the exam instead of tossing away the books and choose not to study and become motivated, worst, no thank you!! Itu gila.

Lalu teringat dengan this Chinese proverb;

"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
Maybe kita, sebagai giver, should evaluate apa kita bagi dengan orang dengan lebih baik.
Maybe kita, sebagai taker, should evaluate apa nilai barang free orang bagi dengan lebih baik.
Insya Allah, to a better person =)
