Salam
Newspapers, tv, internet flooded with numerous news on religious and day by day... getting sensitive, unbearable and irrelevant ..It makes me reflect back how I faced differences first time in my life.
My first time, mixing around, living with non muslim sisters was an eye opener. It was quite terrifying at first to see tanda salib in front of me, bibles and questions on Islam since I was in my comfort zone for years living around islam and malay circles.
That WAS my first time.
As time ticks, I started to accept others differences, I ask them questions on their practices and likewise...it became a positive element, a unity and a strength to our friendship that developed to sisterhood. If we respect others faith, culture and believes, am sure they will respect ours too. Easy! No rocket science included.
Living in the same room; They prayed in the same room. I prayed and even recite quran in the same room. They switch off any musics or being quiet when I put my telekung on. Alhamdulillah for the tolerance and respect given to me along way.
Things are simple and beautiful at that time. Mixing around with people of different culture and religion won't make you less from who you are. It depends solely on how you react and reflect yourself as a Muslim.
Remember, "Lakum dinukum waliyaddin"
Your agama (faith) is yours, my agama (faith) is mine.
Spread love not hate.
Love,
AZ
