Salam
I remember one poetry from Robert Frost, The Road Not Taken. I guess maybe dalam Form 3 English's syllabus.
The most memorable line probably" I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference". It's something that I can relate to. After SPM, it's always the road not taken. I went to KML sorang (technically not with my gang), then take up degree kat UMS, sorang and bidang pertanian which something peculiar to everyone. I didn't follow the trend, I didn't do it because everyone is doing it. No. I do it because I want to try any possibilities that comes with it & I think I can cope with it.
Even now, my decision of not "throwing" my resume everywhere, part time job and take up masters considered as crazy. My decision on FULL TIME MASTER was the riskiest so far since I've to wait a few more months just for it. It gotta be good haha. The thing is, I have my own concerns which prioritized solely on my parents. Apa daknya redha, aku proceed. Apa daknya sik suka, aku carik alternative. And second to that, I believe that obtaining a master degree is my aim since the day I started my degree.
People may work directly after degree banyak sebab. Bayar ptptn, tolong mak bapak, sik minat belajar. Reason varied. So do I on not working directly after my degree. I don't directly work just to give myself space to learn about myself, to make clever decision for myself and enjoy life. Most people warned me, "One word for work, STRESS" "Enjoy your degree time, once you work, no fun at all" " Haaa bagus sambung belajar".
My advice for graduates....especially freshly "brewed" graduates, Don't ever listen to what others say about you cause it's your ship and you're the captain (unless you don't work on something productive), listen to yourself and have faith in Allah's promise on rezeki. Then, you'll be fine.
Take the road not taken, not the road that others take. It may offer both good or bad, but at least it's your OWN decision not others. All the best!
